Holly Spreads It Around

The In-Betweens of Holly Malone is making its way throughout the web. Currently, The In-Betweens of Holly Malone - Episode 30 "A Very Holly Christmas, Part 2 - Santa and the Art of Good Head is being featured on blip.tv's main page. Check it out at: blip.tv! Or simply watch the episode now!

Holly was also featured on www.tilzy.tv. Launched in 2007 tilzy.tv describes itself this way: "Tilzy.TV is a guide to webshows. We sift, scrounge, and search through the countless hours of web video to bring you the best programming available on the internet."

Here's what tilzy.tv had to say about Holly:

Holly Malone is the quintessential single, nervous woman who manages to screw up any interaction that could possibly lead to a date. She lives in New York City, has a dog, her own apartment, a job, and of course, a token gay friend. She is basically a more believable Carrie Bradshaw. Episodes are generally around two minutes long and are shot at various locations throughout Manhattan. The first season follows Holly and her two friends, Dimitri and Francesca, as they participate in a rage of ridiculous activities such as shopping for sex toys in Episode 1 at The Pleasure Chest on 7th Avenue (which also happens to be a stop on the Sex In the City tour), or obsessively evaluating a message left by a possible date for Holly in Episode 4, shot in the Le Gamin Cafe on Hudson street in the West Village.

Much of this show relies on certain cultural references, such as the landmark adult toy shop mentioned above, or the fact that Holly is often eating Mr. Softie ice cream on the street, that are unique to New York City, and so, as someone living there, I feel a particular affection for these characters. I especially like watching episodes shot in familiar places like the Conservatory Garden in Central Park seen in Episode 10.

Get to Know the Cast and Crew of Holly Malone

What does some of the cast and crew of The In-Betweens of Holly Malone do on their downtime? Well...

Writer PG Kain has his first book due out this spring and he's recruited the writing talents of Ellen Shanman for season two of 'Holly'. A seasoned actress in her own right, Ellen has lately found success in writing. Her first novel, Right Before Your Eyes, is due out from Bantam books on May 1st, and her documentary project, Hereafter (an exploration of death, mediumship and the survival of the consciousness) will be a part of Singularity's ongoing United States Project.

Holly's executive producer Alicia Arinella has been working on preproduction for her first feature film, Belly, as well as preproduction for On the Leesh's first new play since SIN called, Yorkshire Fairytale, (written by Thomas Diggs and directed by Nancy Robillard). This charming play is set to premier in NYC in fall 2007. In additiion to Holly Malone, Alicia is currently producing several projects: Yes ,a short film by Stephen Belber, adapted and directed by Lucie Tiberghien and Motherhood, a pilot developed by Ilana Levine and Jennifer Bransford are two of her current favorites.

The actors have also been keeping busy. Julie Tortorici (Francesca) is the star and writer of the upcoming feature film Belly, and her other screenplay, Waltzing Emily, has been chosen as a finalist in both The Script P.I.M.P. Competition and the Scriptshark Screenwriting Competition. Brian Patacca (Danny) has been featured in several commercial campaigns and is currently staring in Uncle at the Blue Heron Theater. Hettienne Park (Ellen) is featured in Never Forever and Year of the Fish, both of which will premier at this year's Sundance Film Festival. Matthew Rashid (Dimitri) has been busy working as a stand up comedian, filming the short The Only One Who Understands with award winning writer Thomas Diggs, as well as signing on to co-direct the feature, Belly. Jessica Arinella (Holly) has also been working with Thomas Diggs, playing Harper Lee in his award winning short play, Harper Lee's Husband, as well as playing the lead in The Only One Who Understands. She also shot an episode of the JJ Abrams TV series Six Degrees.

The Cast and Crew are very excited to sign on for this new/ongoing season of Holly Malone!

Launching Holly Into Cyberspace

Planning a party is never easy. There are a million questions you must ask yourself. Where should it be? What's the best venue? What would make your guests happy? What's hip but not obnoxious? Will everyone come?

These questions are even more pressing when the party is for the launch of your latest project. With every hostessing question that comes to mind, you have to think of two promotional questions. Can we get press there? How can we keep everyone's mind on the project we're launching? Can we ensure that the guests will pass the word on about the project?

These were only a few of the questions we asked ourselves when working on the launch party for the "The In-Betweens of Holly Malone." While we've already released the first four episodes (and viewers can now vote about Holly and Dimitri's future on our website: www.ontheleesh.com/holly), we thought a party would be a great way to remind everyone that the episodes were out there while we get them ready for the next four.

We decided to hold the party at Elmo in the Chelsea section of Manhattan. They had a great downstairs room that we used with a separate bar and a dj playing. We had our list of people and got the invites out as soon as possible. We also made up some Holly coasters and matchbooks to give out which looked really cool. So when the big night rolled around we were ready but nervous.

With one drink down the hatch, we welcomed all our guests and offered them a free drink on us. The whole evening worked like clockwork which was awesome. People who hadn't seen the episodes yet got to watch them on computer screens we had set up and we had Joffre Myers going around getting some footage of the party. Lots of people came who had worked with On the Leesh on previous projects: Daria Polatin, writer of "Happen to Know," Thom Rivera, actor in "Soap Scum," Jeanie Dorsey, writer of "Compliments to Amanda" and Chris Borg, actor in "What Are the Odds," to name a few. What's so great about that is that, when you're in the midst of a project it's sometimes hard to get to know someone as just a cool person. So having the chance to hang out with all of these artists that we love working with and talking about lots of things that have nothing to do with work was incredible.

Now, did we keep people focused on the project at hand. I think so. Are people going to spread the word about Holly? We hope so. Did everyone have a good time. Seemed so. People drank, chatted, mingled, and enjoyed the matchbooks and coasters. What more can you ask for?

As for us, the night was a blast because it's always rewarding to kick back and enjoy what you were able to accomplish. Even if just for an evening...

Have a look at some of our pictures from the event below!
